CONclusion
In conclusion, I think that it is safe to say that there are now, and will likely forever be, aspects of Religion that cross over into pop music. That does not just go for Christianity of course, but any Religion. The concepts of sex, Heaven and Hell, and family are only a few examples of topics that are covered in in dept within the Religion of Christianity that are very present in pop music of this age.
Sex seems to be going absolutely no where, both in music and within media in general. If anything, it becomes more publicized with every passing day. Artists seem to be becoming more and more comfortable with bringing their sex life into their work and sharing it with the entire world.
Heaven and Hell may be the most common reference of the three discussed within this website, but they may be the most unnoticed. So many artists create songs with references that I have found it hard to notice them. When searching songs for this site, many of my favourite songs that I listen to frequently were on the list, but I had just never thought of them before from a religious point of view.
Finally, the portrayal of families within music is something else that seems to be going no where. Musicians and singers have been using this topic in their music for years and years. It is a constant in life, and for that reason it will remain a constant in music. Religion has much to say about families - about how they should be, how they should act. But with today's reality, there are bound to be many families that do not fit within that description - and that is okay.
Religion and music are very much linked together. Although it may not seem obvious, because I personally did not realize until completing this project, there is no denying the relevance between the two.
